Clifton's Republic

Sign Spot had the pleasure of restoring one of Downtown LA’s most recognizable restaurants, Clifton’s; it is the oldest surviving cafeteria style eatery in Los Angeles, founded in 1931. Clifton’s comes alive with its array of neon, LED vintage style bulbs, and aged patina panels.

The restoration included fabrication of a new sign with aluminum and laying down thick bronze metallic paints. Sign Spot was sure to match the tone, texture, patina of the facade, and panels of the signage to the age of the establishment.

The famous neon light box, known to be the oldest neon in the world, was also restored and moved from one spot to another within the iconic restaurant, all while keeping the neon illuminated and on.
