The Consultation

The consultation is a 15–30 minute call or meeting where we learn about your project. We'll cover:

• Your business and brand. What you do, who your customers are, and any logo files or brand guidelines you have.
• Your location(s). Where the sign is going, and whether this is one storefront or a multi-location rollout.
• Sign goals. Getting noticed from the street, directing foot traffic, announcing an opening, or refreshing an outdated look.
• Budget and timeline. A realistic price range for the sign types that fit your goals, and when you need it installed.

If you're not sure what kind of sign you need, that's normal. We'll walk you through the options, from channel letters and storefront signs to monument signs and window graphics, and recommend what fits your building and budget.

The On-Site Survey

Next, we visit your location to collect everything needed to design, permit, and install your sign correctly. During a site survey, we:

• Take precise measurements. Storefront width, sign band dimensions, mounting height, and clearances.
• Check visibility. How your sign will look from the street, the parking lot, and oncoming traffic, including trees, poles, or neighboring signs that could block it.
• Inspect the wall and structure. Wall material, mounting points, and whether the surface can support the sign.
• Locate electrical access. For illuminated signs, where power can be run and what electrical work is needed.
• Review landlord and city rules. Lease sign criteria, shopping center requirements, and local sign codes that limit size, placement, or lighting.
• Photograph the site. These photos become the base for your design renderings, so you see the sign on your actual building.

What You Get After the Survey

Within 3 business days, you'll receive:

• A written quote with a clear breakdown of design, production, permitting, and installation
• Sign recommendations based on your site, including size, type, materials, and lighting
• A permit assessment covering what approvals your project needs and how long they typically take
• A project timeline from approval to installation

Once you approve, we move straight into sign design & rendering, using the measurements and photos from your survey.

Why a Site Survey Matters

Most sign problems start with bad measurements or unchecked rules. A sign that's too large for city code gets rejected at permitting. A sign designed from a Google Street View photo may not fit the actual sign band. And a sign that doesn't match your landlord's criteria may have to be redone at your cost.

A proper site survey catches these issues before you spend money on production, which is why we do one on every project.

Is the consultation free?

Yes. The consultation and site survey are free for projects in Los Angeles County, with no obligation to move forward.

How long does a site survey take?

Most site surveys take 30–60 minutes, depending on the size of the location and the number of signs.

Do I need to be there for the survey?

It helps, but it isn't required. If you can't attend, we just need access to the storefront and any electrical areas, plus contact information for your landlord or property manager.

What should I prepare before the consultation?

Have your logo files, any landlord sign criteria from your lease, and your target opening date ready. If you have photos of the storefront, send them in advance.

Can you survey a location that isn't open yet?

Yes. Many surveys happen during construction or build-out, which is the best time to plan signage so it's ready for opening day. Ask us about coming-soon signs to promote your location before it opens.
