Sign Installation

Service Image

Installation is where your sign becomes real, and where bad work shows. Sign Spot's crews handle removal of your old signage, mounting, electrical connections, and final inspection, on buildings from single storefronts to multi-story offices. Every install is done by a licensed contractor (CSLB #1080621), to code, and cleaned up before we leave.

What's Included in a Sign Installation

  • Old sign removal. We take down existing signage and dispose of it.
  • Wall prep and patching. We patch and touch up mounting holes and damage left behind by the old sign.
  • Mounting. Signs are anchored to the appropriate hardware for your wall type, whether stucco, brick, concrete, metal panel, or EIFS.
  • Electrical connections. Licensed hookup of illuminated signs, including timers and photocells where needed.
  • Crane and lift work. Boom trucks and lifts for high or hard-to-reach installations.
  • Final inspection. We coordinate city inspections so your sign is fully signed off.
  • Cleanup. Your site is left clean and ready for business.

How Installation Works

1. Schedule

We schedule your install around your business hours. Early morning, evening, or weekend installs are available when a shopping center or landlord requires it.

2. Site Prep

Our crew arrives with the equipment and permits needed, sets up safety measures, and protects the surrounding area.

3. Removal and Mounting

Old signage comes down, the wall is prepped, and your new sign is mounted to the approved layout from your permit drawings.

4. Electrical and Testing

Illuminated signs are connected, tested, and timed so they turn on and off when you want them to.

5. Inspection and Sign-Off

We coordinate the final city inspection and walk the job with you before we leave.

Why Licensed Installation Matters

A sign is heavy, often electrified, and mounted above people's heads. Bad installation isn't just a cosmetic problem:

  • Code compliance. Improper installs can fail inspection, and you may be required to redo the work.
  • Safety. Wrong anchors for the wall type can lead to a sign coming loose over time.
  • Liability and insurance. Unlicensed and uninsured work can create serious exposure if something goes wrong.
  • Building damage. Poorly sealed penetrations let water into your wall.

Sign Spot is a licensed California sign contractor and carries general liability insurance. Certificates are available for your landlord or property manager on request.

Sign Installation FAQs

How long does sign installation take?

Most storefront sign installations are completed in a single day. Large monument signs, multi-sign projects, and installs requiring a crane may take longer.

Do you remove my old sign?

Yes. Removal, disposal, and wall patching are included in most installations. If you're rebranding, ask about our sign removal & rebranding service.

Can you install outside business hours?

Yes. We schedule early morning, evening, and weekend installs when your business or landlord requires it.

Does my sign need an electrician?

Illuminated signs need licensed electrical work, and we handle that as part of the install. If your building doesn't have power at the sign location, we'll flag it during the site survey.

What happens if my sign gets damaged later?

We repair and maintain signs we install, and signs we didn't. See sign repair & maintenance.
